Presenting our new porcelain jewellery pendant range

Jewellery and ceramics are two of my favourite things, but it wasn’t something that I ever thought to combine. It was actually Jaynie from Hallo Jane, a brand we frequently collaborate with here at Sugar & Vice, who suggested combining the two. Thanks Jaynie!

At the time I was doing ceramic classes, so I thought it the ideal opportunity to try my hand at making porcelain pendants. You might even have seen some of my Instagram stories about this.

It was a wonderful experience and something I loved doing. It allowed me to get my hands dirty in some clay, and to produce something very bespoke.

This range comes in small batches as they are cut by hand and individually painted, which means each necklace is truly unique and special. Browse the range here.

Here’s a short video of the pendant painting process:

The shapes of the pendants I cut traced on X-rays and then used them to cut out the porcelain jewellery pendants.  Here are some photos of the process:

The chains on the pendants are sterling silver, which adds a touch of luxury to the pendants, which are rather quirky. They’re ideal as a beautiful souvenir or as a special birthday gift. The pendant shapes includes that of a cat, Table Mountain, a hexagon, circle and Africa shapes. There’s still a protea and bunny in the making so watch this space.
